I figure

if a girl wants to be a

legend,

she should go ahead

and be one.

Welcome to On High Ground, a creative print and photography studio where the stories of legends are told.

The work and services found here are inspired by the spirit of the “high” ground, from the magical dust of the desert floor to the legends of the sky – and all the saddles in between.

We specialize in Horse + Rider photography sessions for cowgirls who want to showcase their skills as leading ladies and capture their legendary magic on film. Want to learn more?

Rock out!

Since the OHG brand aesthetic leans into the vibes of 1970’s rock album covers, I decided to start showcasing horse + rider session photo albums in the style of these great vintage layouts and create a curated playlist for the cowgirls of On High Ground to listen to while browsing the session galleries and preparing for their own photo shoots.

Listen to the summer playlist for the cowgirls of On High Ground. Clicking on the album cover will redirect you to Spotify.

LegendaryPhotography. Alternative Print.

As a photographer whose roots are in printmaking, I want to broaden the perspective folks have on equine photography by showcasing work that lives beyond a hard drive.

I challenge the visual ideas of what horse and rider images should look like by turning digital images into hand-pulled prints using historical photographic techniques like cyanotype and the Van Dyke method. More to come…

About

Hi there, I’m Jacquelyn Tierney, the artist and photographer behind On High Ground. I have been both a creative and “horse girl” all my life (though don’t ask me to ride, I’m happy to just pet and take the photos). Originally from the Northeast of the US, I have lived in the Western states on and off for the past fifteen years. Today, I am based in Central Oregon.

My professional and academic backgrounds are a blend of fashion, the fine and decorative arts, energetic healing arts, print design…and of course, the school of horses. If there is one thing I’ve learned on this wild journey of life, it’s this: don’t let the world break you. May your spirit run forever free!
